Frequently asked

Can I use Quill on multiple devices?

Your purchase works across all the devices signed in to your Apple ID, and can be shared with your household through Family Sharing — just install Quill and tap "Restore Purchase." Your logged data, however, stays on each device on its own.

To move data to a new device, create an encrypted backup on the old device, transfer the file (AirDrop, iCloud Drive, email), and restore on the new device.

Live sync between devices (so both parents see the same data in real time) is on the roadmap for a future update.

My partner and I both want to use Quill — what should we do?

Right now, the best approach is to designate one phone as the "source of truth" and share an encrypted backup periodically. (The purchase itself can be shared for free through Apple Family Sharing — you only buy Quill once for your household.) We're working on real-time sync as a future feature, but want to build it carefully so we don't compromise the privacy guarantees.

What happens if I lose my phone?

If you haven't created a backup, your data is gone — Quill can't recover it because we never had a copy. Please create backups regularly. The app reminds you every 30 days when no recent backup exists.

I forgot my backup password. Can you help?

No, and that's by design. The password is the only thing that decrypts your backup. We don't have it, we never had it, and there's no master key to fall back on. This is what "encrypted" actually means — please write your password down somewhere safe.

How much does Quill cost?

Quill is free to try for 7 days, with every feature unlocked. After that, a one-time purchase of $4.99 keeps it yours for good — no subscription, no renewals. The purchase can be shared with your household through Apple Family Sharing.

I paid before, but I'm being asked again on a new phone.

You won't be charged twice. On the new phone, open Settings and tap "Restore Purchase" — your one-time unlock will come back. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID you bought it with.

Does Quill work on Android?

Not yet. The app is iOS first. Android may come later depending on demand.

Can I track more than one child?

Yes. Quill supports multiple children, each with their own profile, log preferences, and notification settings. Switch between them with one tap.

Can I export data to share with a pediatrician?

Yes. From Settings, generate a PDF report for any time range. Email it, print it, or open it on a screen during the appointment.

I found a bug. How do I report it?

Please email [email protected] with as much detail as you can — what you were doing, what you expected, what happened instead. Screenshots help. Steps to reproduce help even more.

I have a feature request.

Send it along. We can't promise to build every request, but we read each one. The features that have made it into Quill came from real parents pointing out what was missing.

Wishlist?

If there's something Quill doesn't do that you wish it would — tell us. The roadmap is shaped by what real parents actually need at 3am.
